Fashionable Food: momofuku milk bar

momofuku milk bar is my newest NYC discovery. I first heard of the bakery this year during Fashion’s Night Out, when Karlie Kloss teamed up with momofuku milk bar to create the “fashionably wholesome” cookie line, “Karlie’s Kookies.” The perfect 10 kookie is the first cookie of the “collection.” Karlie worked with chef and owner Christina Tosi to create the vegan, gluten-free and agave-flavored “kookie.” Each perfect 10 kookie sold, Lauren Bush Lauren’s charity FEED Projects donates 10 school lunches to children in poverty around the world. “I am really into health and nutrition and baking has always been a passion. I take these cookies on shoots, to fashion weeks, to my friends’ houses – everywhere. They make you feel good and you are doing good,” Karlie told British Vogue.

momofuku milk bar is a bakery with five New York City locations in East Village, Midtown, Upper West Side, Williamsburg and Carroll Gardens. They sell cookies, pies and cakes, along with soft serve, coffee, shakes, croissants, bread, and of course, jugs of milk. I had the cereal milk flavored soft serve with topping when I visited, and it really did taste like milk from cereal. momofuku milk bar also makes unique wedding cakes, with unfrosted sides to display the layers of cake.

The cookies sold here are known for their unusual, yet delicious, qualities. momofuku milk bar sells the compost cookie, which contains pretzels, potato chips, coffee, oats, butterscotch and chocolate chips all mixed together into one yummy cookie. Other cookie flavors include the cornflake cookie, which has cornflakes, marshmallows and chocolate chips (um, yum). The corn cookie, confetti cookie and blueberry and cream cookie are other momofuku milk bar creations. They also sell their crack pie (toasted oat crust & gooey butter filling), grasshopper pie (graham crust, mint cheesecake, brownie filling), candy bar pie (chocolate crust, caramel, peanut butter nougat, pretzels), and franken pie, which includes slices of all the pies. Not to mention the adorable little cake truffles they sell.

All of these cookies and pies I certainly think are fashionably delicious.
